Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation
The Child & Adolescent Bipolar Foundation educates families, professionals, and the public about pediatric bipolar disorder; connects families with resources and support; advocates for and empowers affected families; and supports research on pediatric bipolar disorder and its cure. The CABF site is a life line for parents and offers online support groups, bulletin boards, chat rooms, directories of local support groups and child psychiatrists, and an extensive learning center.

STARFISH Advocacy
A new organization whose purpose is to ensure the well-being of children with neurological or hidden disabilities, by providing education, advocacy, and support to parents and other educational professionals. This includes providing online educational advocacy classes, on-site training, message boards, an online chat room and parent-to-parent support programs.


Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance

DBSA is the nation's leading patient-directed organization focusing on depression and bipolar disorder, primarily for adults and their families. The organization fosters an understanding about the impact and management of these illnesses by providing up-to-date, scientifically-based tools and information written in language the general public can understand. DBSA supports research to promote more timely diagnosis, develop more effective and tolerable treatments and discover a cure.

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI)
The nation's leading grassroots, self-help, and family advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with brain disorders. NAMI is active in the research and political arenas and campaigns actively against discrimination and for access to treatment.

Bp Magazine

Published four times annually, bp is filled with articles by and about personalities who share the issues of living with bipolar disorder and living well. Excellent round-up of news, research and ideas on how to get better care. The pages on pediatric bipolar disorder are extremely helpful.

McMan's Depression and Bipolar Web

Award-winning online weekly newsletter offers superbly-written articles on the latest research, new therapies, social and legal issues, and book and movie reviews. This site also contains over two hundred articles, many on childhood-onset bipolar disorder.

This Web site is divided into three main areas: Life Charting (the Kiddie Chart); the newsletter, Bipolar Network News, which is published three times a year; and daily abstracts from the scientific literature. Excellent site.

Tourette Syndrome "Plus"

Dr. Leslie E. Packer's Web site provides articles and ideas to help the child with executive function deficits organize homework, estimate time, and make transitions ("switch jobs"). Parents will find the glossaries, organizers, and advocacy tutorial extremely helpful. Winner of a Bright Spot on the Web Award.
